Our homestay English language tutor programme is an economical and safe way of travelling and the perfect cultural exchange.
Get free room and board in a welcoming host family in exchange for a few hours a week teaching English to your host family.

What you do

  • 10 - 12 hrs p.w. of English tuition or conversational sessions with host family's kids and/or adults. Usually arranged from Monday to Friday, with weekends off.

What you don't do

  • No childcare duties involved.
  • No household duties involved.
However, you will be responsible for keeping your room in neat conditions and respecting the host family's home and rules.​

  • Private room and full board 7 days a week.
  • Airport pick-up by family on arrival.

  • Plenty of time off to study Spanish, visit Spain, or teach private lessons to third parties.

 Applicants are responsible for their personal expenses.

Requirements

  • Male/Female between 18 to 30 y.o.
  • English native speaker (host families mostly interested in Ireland, UK, USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand nationals).
  • Non English native speakers with excellent English skills.
  • TEFL certificate / English teaching / English tutoring experience a bonus.
  • Able to plan teaching/conversational sessions.
  • Be in good physical and mental health
  • Be a non-smoker or be willing to refrain from smoking at home or accompanied by children.

Legal entry in Spain

Citizens from the EU, for example Irish, do not require a visa for any lenght of stay.

Citizens from Non EU countries: USA, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, can stay up to 90 days, as tourists. No visa required. Some exceptions apply, SouthAfrica requires tourist visa.
For any stay longer than 90 days in Spain, all will need a student visa.

Costs

Destino Idiomas does not charge you any fees.

Applicants are responsible for the following expenses:
  • Round flight fare.
  • Travel Insurance
  • Personal expenses in Spain.​
  • Visa costs if needed.
  • Language course costs associated to visa.

Documents

  • Application form and agreement. 
  • Presentation letter in English.
  • 1 full body + one passport size pictures.
  • 2 Teaching/tutoring or Character references.
  • Medical certificate less than 3 months old.
  • Police clearance certificate.
  • Copy of Passport.
  •  Relevant diplomas or certificates (University, TEFL, etc)
